Secondary school
We offer activities in and around the museum as well as at schools. Read on to discover the different possibilities. Some activities can be booked directly, while for others you can contact us.
Workshops

Workshop Graffiti
Our workshop graffiti allows students to discover what it’s like to create art with spray cans. Our experienced workshop teacher will always take the students to the museum first to check out cool examples. That way, the students are guaranteed to find the necessary inspiration to create their very own masterpiece. The end of the workshop is a great moment to take a nice group picture as a souvenir of this special day.

Workshop Graffiti Letters
During this workshop, students are introduced to drawing graffiti letters in an accessible way. We start with a short inspiration tour through the museum, where we look at different examples and styles of graffiti lettering, before getting hands-on ourselves. Using two different graffiti styles as a guide, students learn step by step how to develop their own letters and practice on paper.

Workshop Stencil Art
The workshop stencil art allows students to discover what it’s like to create art with templates (stencils). The workshop starts with 30 minutes in our museum to check out some cool examples. Inspired by the works in our collection, the students will then create their own stencil art. Afterwards, the students get to take home their artwork.
Guided tours

Guided tour STRAAT Museum
Discover the STRAAT collection with one of our experienced tour guides and delve into the world of street art and graffiti, and the diverse styles and artists. During this interactive guided tour, students will be encouraged to observe closely, uncover the messages within the artwork, and actively engage in discussions about the different roles of street art.

Guided tour STRAAT Museum + NDSM wharf
Combine the guided tour in our museum with a guided tour of the NDSM wharf. This special part of Amsterdam has a unique history, which includes a big street art chapter. In graffiti terms, the NDSM wharf is what we call a hall of fame, a place where street artists can paint ‘freely’. This indoor and outdoor guided tour is ideal for the warmer months of the year.

Independent group visit
Would you like to bring your class to the STRAAT Museum without booking an educational program? Then book an independent group visit. This allows you to visit the museum without the guidance of a museum teacher, but requires you to supervise the students yourself. We recommend preparing an assignment for your visit.
