What is STRAAT?

STRAAT is the world’s largest museum dedicated to street art and graffiti. Located in a vast former shipbuilding warehouse on Amsterdam's iconic NDSM Wharf, the museum is home to more than 180 monumental artworks created by artists from over 40 countries.

Street art has evolved from a subculture into one of the world's most influential contemporary art movements. STRAAT was created to celebrate the artists, stories and cultural impact behind that movement, providing a permanent home for large-scale works that would otherwise disappear from the streets.

Unlike most museums, many of the works at STRAAT have been created on site by artists from across the world. Visitors regularly have the opportunity to watch artists at work, with the collection continuing to grow throughout the year.

In 2025, STRAAT welcomed more than 210,000 visitors from across Europe and beyond, and has become one of Amsterdam's most talked-about cultural destinations.

STRAAT's unique combination of monumental art, industrial architecture and urban culture has made it the chosen venue for the world premiere of the trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Collection Highlights


Eduardo Kobra - Let Me Be Myself

The museum's most iconic artwork is Eduardo Kobra's monumental portrait of Anne Frank, located on the exterior façade of the building.

Standing 24 metres high and covering 240 square metres, the mural required more than 450 spray cans and 35 litres of paint to complete and has become one of Amsterdam's most photographed artworks.

Shepard Fairey - Raise the Level

Known worldwide as the creator of Barack Obama's iconic HOPE poster, Shepard Fairey is represented at STRAAT with both an outdoor mural and a work in the permanent collection, Desert Today, Ocean Tomorrow. His work combines graphic design, street culture and political activism.

PichiAvo - Untitled
The Spanish duo PichiAvo are celebrated for blending classical Greco-Roman iconography and sculpture with contemporary street art and graffiti aesthetics. This painting explores an extensive colour palette set against grey-scale graffiti elements, drawing on colour theory to mark a new evolution in their artistic practice.

Hush - Untitled

Known for blending traditional Japanese motifs with the energy of street art, Hush is represented at STRAAT with Untitled, a spray paint work on polyester now on view. He has developed an aesthetic entirely his own, combining black-and-white figurative forms that evoke sculpture and monument with patterns and abstractions drawn from graffiti, tags, typography and cultural visual codes.

Mando - Going On
Best known for portraying girls on the edge of innocence that speak to the childlike quality in us all, Mando is represented at STRAAT with Going On, a spray and latex paint work on polyester now on view. The piece continues her signature exploration through a nostalgic, antique color palette, with her character stenciled and repeated to suggest movement.

Farid Rueda - Theft and Love
Mexican artist Farid Rueda combines colourful kaleidoscopic forms with local animals and pre-Hispanic figures to celebrate Mexico's rich cultural heritage. In Theft and Love, a lion and an eagle are fused into one figure, referencing pre-Hispanic gods.

Seth - Young Girl With the Pearl

French artist Seth is known for his colourful portals, dreamlike doorways into imaginary worlds. Here, a girl in mid-flight wears a delicate pearl earring in homage to Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring, her hidden face inviting you to project yourself into the scene.

Dulk - The Giant Change

Spanish artist Dulk is known for his richly patterned depictions of animals, blending vivid colour and intricate detail to explore humanity's relationship with nature. The Giant Change is a monumental flamingo sculpture inspired by Valencia's Albufera Natural Park, telling the story of the world's wetlands threatened by drought and climate change.


Current Exhibition


the ESSENCE

Alongside its permanent collection, STRAAT presents a programme of temporary exhibitions exploring contemporary urban culture, identity, activism and artistic innovation.

Currently on view is the ESSENCE, a major exhibition exploring the cultural meaning and foundations of graffiti. The exhibition focuses on the core elements of graffiti: names, tags, lines and repetition as the building blocks of a visual system. Line, form, flow and rhythm come together in an autonomous visual language driven by movement and the urge to mark presence.
