Speto is a true pioneer of São Paulo’s graffiti scene. Born in 1971 in the city’s outskirts, he was exposed to graffiti culture from a very young age, which drove him to start painting in public spaces by the mid-1980s. Over the years, Speto has developed a unique and unmistakable style, deeply influenced by Brazilian artistic traditions such as artisanal woodworking and literatura de cordel—forms he reinvents with sensitivity and creativity. His visual signature features simple, predominantly black-and-white figures that convey strength and expression. Through this language, Speto bridges past and present, popular and contemporary, bringing an authentic and vibrant voice to Brazilian urban art.
