Dan Kitchener
(UK, 1974)Untitled
( 2017 )now on view
Dan Kitchener brings the city to the foreground in such a way that it completely dominates his compositions. Dan constantly captures the energy of the city through its lighting and bustle. He always tries to recreate the atmosphere of a place as he experienced it. The wet streets and crowded neon signs are actual urban elements recorded by the artist on site through photographs and sketches.
For Untitled, Dan recreated the steam, mist, rain, light, reflections and glow he experienced one night in Tokyo’s Shinjuku neighborhood. Capturing the scene with his camera, the photographs taken that night have inspired a lot of the imagery he has painted on murals all over the world.
