(MEX, 1983)Poiesis
now on view
A master in calligraffiti, Said uses the symbolism of ancient alphabets to depict personal feelings. Unlike his art in the street, where he lets the public decipher the words his murals are composed of, this canvas is an example of ‘abstract calligraphy’.
“This painting is all about street art being about poetry, about ‘poiesis’. It’s a kind of energy that it’s around poetry, but also around politics. For me ‘poetic’ and ‘political’ are synonymous.” / Said Dokins
