My Death Dream

Cix Mugre is a Mexican artist proudly influenced by his roots. In his case, these roots hark back to the Chinantec and Zapotec people. Building off their muralist tradition, Cix paints mystical beings from this ancient heritage in a psychedelic style with a whiff of pop art, characterized by expressive colors and varying textures. Besides leaving ephemeral marks on city walls, the self-taught artist also enjoys creating eternal illustrations on human skin as a tattoo artist.

My Death Dream literally shows its title. Mysterious figures, psychedelic shapes and glowing tones capture the vision that Cix had of his own funeral. Not only is the ritual vividly dominated by pre-Hispanic and folk art - like most of Cix’s paintings - but it is also filled with art from other countries
